To enrol in single courses, you must have an upper secondary school leaver’s certificate or a university degree.
Students cannot enrol in single courses if they are already enrolled in programmes at Politecnico di Milano.
Those who are not enrolled in programmes at Politecnico di Milano may enrol in single courses only if they have the qualifications granting them access, only after an assessment of available places by the schools.
Single courses are individual courses in which you decide to enrol in order to sit the relevant examinations and obtain the corresponding ECTS (university credits) - to further your personal education, if you have specific cultural interests or if you need to pass exams for admission to public competitive examinations.

When and how to enrol in single courses
In each academic year you may only enrol in single courses once up to a maximum of 32 ECTS.
In the first semester, you can enrol in single courses delivered in both the 1st and 2nd semester.
In the 2nd semester, you can only enrol in single courses delivered in the 2nd semester.
If you enrol in the 1st semester, you cannot re-enrol in single courses in the 2nd semester of the same academic year.
The possibility to enrol in single courses is not guaranteed for all programmes and is subject to the available number of places.
For the A.Y. 2024/2025, it is not possible to enrol in single courses of the three-year Laurea programmes (equivalent to Bachelor of Science, hereinafter referred to as L) in Architectural Design or Urban Planning or in three-year L programmes of the School of Design. It is also not possible to enrol in single courses of the Online Computer Engineering (IOL) L programme.

Enrolment in single courses lasts for one academic year and allows you to attend of the relevant classes and the sit the final exam, after which a certificate will be issued.
The student's career related to single courses automatically closes at the end of the academic year; therefore, re-registration is required if you wish to attend the following academic year.
We would like to remind you that you cannot take two single courses in the same academic year.
If you are enrolled in single courses, have an Italian qualification and wish to enrol in a Laurea Magistrale programme (equivalent to Master of Science and hereinafter referred to as LM):
- submit an application for admission if you meet the Requirements;
- controlla la valutazione della tua domanda;
- if you have been successfully admitted (green dot), apply for withdrawal from single courses at Online Services > Student career interruption, completing it with the payment of the stamp duty/any outstanding tuition fees.
Your single course career will then be closed and you will no longer be able to sit the remaining exams in the subsequent exam dates; - wait for your withdrawal to be processed and then enrol in the Laurea Magistrale programme
If you are enrolled in single courses, have a foreign qualification and wish to enrol in a Laurea Magistrale programme (equivalent to Master of Science and hereinafter referred to as LM):
- apply for admission in accordance with the procedures and deadlines indicated here;
- if you have been successfully admitted (green dot), apply for withdrawal from single courses at Online Services > Student career interruption, completing it with the payment of the stamp duty/any outstanding tuition fees.
Your individual courses will be terminated and you will no longer be able to take the remaining exam in subsequent sessions; - wait for your withdrawal to be processed and then enrol in the Laurea Magistrale programme
In the case of subsequent enrolment in a degree programme, the grades for individual courses can only be validated at the discretion of the Study Programme Board (CCS). There is no attendance validation.

The procedure for applying for an entry visa is managed through the Universitaly platform. Non-EU students living abroad must create their own profile and apply by signing in to Universitaly.

Politecnico di Milano will confirm the visa application to the Italian Diplomatic Representation on Universitaly only after receiving confirmation from the School that the applicant has been admitted to the single courses.
For the enrolment in Single Courses you need to send the International Students Office the last qualification you obtained among the following: Upper Secondary School Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree or Master of Science Degree.
If your qualification was issued directly in English, French or Spanish, no translation will be required. Otherwise, you will have to send both your qualification in original language and translated in Italian, English, French or Spanish. Please note only official translations are accepted.
