Candidates who are considered equivalent to italian citizens:
- citizens belonging to European Union countries, as well as those coming from Norway, Iceland, Lichtenstein and the Swiss Confederation, the Republic of San Marino and the Holy See;
- non-EU citizens legally residing in Italy (with EU residence permit for long-term residents, with residence permit for subordinate work, self-employment, for family reasons, for asylum, for subsidiary protection, for religious reasons) or residing in an EU country with an EU residence permit for long-term residents, in possession of an Italian or foreign qualification;
- candidates, wherever resident, with final secondary school diplomas issued by Italian schools (state or equivalent abroad), non-EU citizens holders of CLIQ quality system linguistic certificates in levels C1 and C2, holders of qualifications issued by foreign international schools, operating in Italy or abroad, subject to bilateral agreements on the recognition of qualifications;
- non-EU citizens with a residence permit for study reasons, in possession of an Italian or foreign qualification, enrolled in a Bachelor programme or Single Courses (related to the Bachelor programme for which the application is being made), to foundation courses at another Italian university, who wish to transfer to Politecnico di Milano.
In all the above cases, the residence permit must be valid at the time of enrolment at Politecnico di Milano.
Candidates who are considered International students (reserved places):
- foreign candidates who require an entry visa to Italy for long-term stays for enrolment in higher education institutions, in possession of a foreign qualification;
- non-EU citizens who studied in Italy with a residence permit for study reasons, but who have lost the student status or have given up their studies (*);
- non-EU citizens in possession of a residence permit for study purposes obtained in order to attend an Italian language course (*);
- non-EU citizens in possession of a residence permit for study purposes obtained in order to attend Single Courses not pertaining to the three-year Bachelor programme for which the application is being made (*).
(*) in this case it is necessary to request a new study visa in order to be able to re-enrol at university
In the case of dual citizenship, one of which is Italian or of another EU country, it is the Italian citizenship or that of another EU country that prevails for the purposes of admission and enrolment.
