Descrizione dell'iniziativa

The initiative proposes a hands-on project activity aimed at developing the prototype of a multifunctional hydroponic wall through a shared design and realization process. This hydroponic wall, based on the cultivation of plants in the absence of soil, aims to be an aesthetically pleasing element, capable of increasing the healthiness of the environment in which it is installed and functional for the dissemination of contents related to sustainability issues and innovative tools for agriculture. The prototype will be characterized by continuous and real-time monitoring of the main parameters (e.g. air temperature and humidity, water level in the tank, light intensity, air quality) as well as the transmission of such data to the cloud. In addition to the management of the wall through control systems (e.g., dosage of nutrients as needed, alert regarding the execution of maintenance procedures), such data will be used for the determination of parameters related to the determination and communication of the vital functions of the plants and the related positive effects of the wall itself (e.g., CO2 storage, improvement of air quality). This project is conceived as a process lasting several months for the prototyping of the wall that will then be built on a full scale at the new campus of the Polo Territoriale di Cremona, as a key element of a relaxation area located in a publicly accessible area near the library.
