Technology Transfer Office (TTO)
The TTO of Politecnico di Milano is one of the first established in Italy, among the founders of Netval (Network of Italian Universities TTO). Over the years, it has achieved important results both in terms of intellectual property management and spin-off generation, with a portfolio of more than 1600 patents, half of which already in use at an industrial and commercial level.
Mission
The Technology Transfer office (TTO)'s mission is to support Politecnico researchers, staff and students in exploiting their research activity and bring it to the market, in order to develop products or services to improve the day-to-day life, to create further innovation and to generate returns to be reinvested in the academic research activity.
Services
The TTO team holds expertise in mechanics, in chemistry, in architecture, in electronics, in physics and in bioengineering as well as in economics, in management and in law. They provides researchers with the professional support needed at every stage of the technology transfer process as well as interface with industries to find possible exploitation and collaboration routes.

- Assessing the protectability of research results
- Management of the preliminary phase and preparatory to the filing of patents and other forms of industrial property rights
- Enhancement of Intellectual Property through licensing
- Support to the negotiation of intellectual property in the different forms of collaboration with industry
- Management of the preliminary and preparatory phase for the creation of a spin-off company
- Management of services aimed at the growth of spin-off companies

She organizes and coordinates office reporting and promotion materials of the University's innovation portfolio. She follows the patent filing procedure and has a support role in the enhancement of innovations in the biomedical field.

The business side of technology transfer in Politecnico di Milano. Currently working as a licensing and corporate office with a focus on the ICT and electronics sector. Besides supporting inventors in the identification of potential markets for their technologies, Nicola engages with industry partners and develop the network of corporates to support the technology transfer process.

Graduated in Electronic Engineering, she has been working at the Politecnico di Milano (Technology Transfer Office) since 2006. Her main tasks and responsibilities concern the management of intellectual property within the contracts that regulate the various forms of collaborative research of the University, in particular conventions framework, research agreements, national and international calls for funding, doctoral scholarships. Graduated in Chemistry in 1993, he has been working at the Politecnico di Milano (Technology Transfer Office) since 2003 as a technician in the field of protection and enhancement of intangible assets. He obtained a specialization in industrial property management in 2002 (Master IPM – Industrial Property Management). Graduated in Law from the Universidad de Valladolid (Spain), she subsequently obtained a postgraduate diploma (European College of Parma) and a Master in European Studies (LUISS- School of Government) and has been admitted to the legal profession since January 2022. She has worked since 2018 in various trademark and patent consultancy firms in Milan. At the TTO he deals with consultancy and legal assistance in the field of intellectual property for the exploitation of university research results.
