Full Professor of Technical Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano, his research activity has focused on the Innovation of technologies and applied processes in the construction sector, with particular regard to the principles of eco-sustainability and eco-compatibility, and algorithmic and computational design, at the Department of Architecture, Built Environment and Construction Engineering ABC.
He has held important positions at the Politecnico di Milano: from 2008 to 2010 he was Head of the BEST (Building and Environmental Science and Technology) Department and Deputy Dean of the School of Construction Engineering and Architecture, and from 2011 to 2015 he was Dean of the School of Construction Engineering and Architecture of the Politecnico di Milano; he was a Director of the Fondazione Politecnico di Milano.
He has been a member of important national and international scientific societies in the field of architectural technology and has combined academic research with abundant professional activity with important projects for large universities and hospitals.
For his achievement in the Restoration and Restructuring of the Teatro alla Scala he was nominated Commendatore of the Italian Republic by the President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi in 2005 and awarded with the Ambrogino d'Oro by the Mayor of Milan Gabriele Albertini.
