Norman Foster at Politecnico di Milano

Looking to the future

Publish date

On the occasion of the Milano Design Week 2024, the Politecnico di Milano in collaboration with Domus hosted Norman Foster, one of the most influential figures in the world of contemporary architecture and Guest Editor of Domus 2024.

In the Aula Magna Giampiero Pesenti, crowded for the occasion, Lord Foster gave a speech on the future of our cities, reflecting on the road ahead between the ideal and possible city and suggesting a way of designing that takes into account not only creativity, but also data.

The meeting was attended by Rector Donatella Sciuto, Executive Vice Rector Emilio Faroldi, the President of Editoriale Domus Giovanna Mazzocchi, and the Editorial Director of Domus Walter Mariotti.

Politecnico di Milano's tradition of hosting enlightened figures from the engineering, architectural and design disciplines continues, in the wake of a history that sees dialogue and relations with excellence as the interpretative key to the dissemination of knowledge, expertise and the arts in their ever-changing status. To host Lord Norman Foster and get in touch with his experience and his cultural approach to the transformation of the environment in which we live is a real privilege. Only thanks to this opportunity can we get to know one of the main protagonists of the world's architectural scene, one operating not only in two centuries, but also in two different - and so far from each other - millennia.

commented Emilio Faroldi.
